Cyprus Police to Step Up Road Checks Ahead of the Holidays
With the holiday season approaching, the police in the Republic of Cyprus will be ramping up road checks and patrols across the country starting today. Law enforcement will intensify their efforts throughout the Christmas, New Year, and Epiphany period.
According to the police press office, both motorized and foot patrols will be increased, and traffic control will be stepped up on the main highways as well as across the broader road network.
To prevent accidents and address the anticipated rise in traffic during the festive period, police presence will be bolstered on key highways and intercity routes.
The enhanced monitoring will begin on Monday, December 23, and continue through January 6, 2025.
Special focus will be placed on the most common causes of fatal accidents, including speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to use seat belts and helmets, and using mobile phones while driving.
