74 Prisoners Pardoned in Cyprus as Part of Christmas Amnesty
Before Christmas, the President of the Republic of Cyprus pardoned a total of 74 prisoners, granting them the opportunity to reunite with their families.
According to Philenews, the list was submitted to the Attorney General's office for approval.
Presidential pardons are an annual ritual where individuals serving time for minor offenses are released before their scheduled terms.
Convicts serving sentences for serious crimes, including sexual offenses, are not eligible for amnesty.
It is also noted that, on the occasion of the holidays, prison authorities have taken measures to provide more visitation rights for those serving sentences.
