New traffic violation detection cameras have been activated in three cities of Cyprus today
Starting from today, new traffic violation detection cameras have been activated in three cities of the Republic of Cyprus. In total, by the end of March 2024, another 90 stationary cameras will be operational in 30 locations across the country.
According to the official statement from the police, as of February 5th, violations are being recorded at 12 points in Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca.
The statement notes that currently, cameras are operational at 18 stationary points in the provinces of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos, with 20 mobile cameras operating daily throughout the road network of Cyprus.
"On Monday, February 5th, eight more cameras were put into operation at four locations in Limassol and Larnaca," the police statement said.
Thus, including the devices launched today, there are 16 cameras operating in Nicosia, 14 in Limassol, 20 in Larnaca, and 18 in Paphos.
According to the plans, by the end of March 2024, another 18 cameras are expected to be launched - six in Limassol (they will be operational at the end of February) and another six cameras at two points in Nicosia.
Traffic violation control cameras are designed to monitor and prevent violations that have been proven to be the main causes of fatal and serious road traffic incidents.
