In the center of Geroskipou, foreigners and Cypriot Greeks got into a fight
On the central square in Geroskipou, a clash occurred between foreigners and Cypriot-Greek youth. As a result of the mass brawl, at least one person was injured.
According to the police press service, the altercation started after a dispute between a young foreigner and a Cypriot-Greek. The verbal argument quickly escalated into a mass brawl.
Local media report that despite residents of the area promptly notifying the police, law enforcement was unable to respond quickly to the situation, leading it to spiral out of control.
Local residents note that there has been tension in this area lately, with conflicts between young people occurring quite frequently. Residents of the area express concern and demand an increased police presence.
In connection with the above, a meeting is expected tomorrow between the mayor of Paphos, the chief of police, and the minister of justice. Additionally, on Friday, the minister will visit the police headquarters in Paphos.
