"Divided Island" – A Film About Cyprus Released in the UK
The film Divided Island, which delves into the complex issue that has divided Cyprus, has been released in the UK. Directed by Turkish Cypriot Ceym Sesiguzel and co-produced by Greek Cypriot Andreas Tokallos, the film takes a deep and personal look at the Cyprus conflict.
The filmmakers aimed to create a documentary that promotes a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Cyprus issue.
The film is built on intimate interviews with individuals whose lives, homes, and country were torn apart by the division, alongside young Cypriots who remain hopeful for a peaceful solution to the problem.
"The themes explored in the film resonate universally, whether or not one has a connection to Cyprus. Ultimately, I hope this documentary sheds light on the humanity and complexity of the issue in a way that will encourage meaningful discussions for future generations," said the director, Ceym Sesiguzel.
Divided Island opened in cinemas across the UK on November 1st.
