Nicosia Quantum Marathon to Take Place This Weekend

This Sunday, Nicosia will host the Quantum Nicosia Marathon, organized by the Athanasios Ktorides Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of Nicosia. The event is the capital’s largest running competition and promises a day filled with excitement for participants and spectators alike.

Event Details and Routes

The races kick off at 7:00 AM from the Nicosia Municipal Theater. The 5.5 km route will guide runners through the historic landmarks of Old Nicosia, including:

• The Venetian Walls
• Famagusta Gate
• The Liberty Monument
• The ancient aqueduct
• Eleftheria Square
• The old Town Hall
• Paphos Gate

For longer distances, runners will explore the historic Kaimakli area. Marathon and half-marathon participants will also traverse the Green Line, pass the University of Cyprus campus, and run through the scenic Athalassa National Forest Park. All routes will conclude at the starting point near the Archaeological Museum.

Additional Activities

This year’s marathon features a range of activities designed to engage the whole community:

• Wellness Expo: Taking place on Saturday, December 7, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the CYENS Center of Excellence, this event is free and open to the public. Runners can also collect their race kits on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday at the expo.
• Shakeout Run One Nicosia: On Saturday at 10:00 AM, join a 7 km run through Nicosia’s fortified city, crossing both sides of the Green Line for a unique tour.
• Winners’ Festival: On Sunday, celebrate with food and fun at a street food festival near the Municipal Theater.
