Two development projects worth €4 million to be implemented in Zygi
Two public projects with a total cost of around €4 million will be carried out in the village of Zygi, Cyprus, according to community representatives on October 30, 2025.
The projects include the modernization of the coastal road costing €1.7 million and a village center beautification program worth over €2 million. According to Zygi community leader Georgia Michael, the coastal road work will be completed by August 2026; more than half of the work has already been done.
The coastal road modernization includes new pavement and sidewalks, modern urban equipment and lighting, and the installation of underground utilities.
The village center beautification will be funded under the TALIA program. The Larnaca District administration, according to the community, will announce tenders by the end of the year, after which work will start in 2026. The plan includes a full reconstruction of the center with new green areas and recreation zones.
Additionally, a mini futsal court, volleyball, and basketball courts with a total cost of €457,000 are planned; the Larnaca District administration has already announced the tender, with work expected in early 2026.
A community representative noted that the projects are important for retaining young people and the infrastructure development of the settlement, which is experiencing residential and tourism construction. The next goal of the Community Council is to create an open-air amphitheater for events.
Completion of the Fisheries and Maritime Museum building is delayed due to lack of funding for interior finishing. A funding application has been submitted to the LARACSA TALASSA program; if funds are allocated, the project could be completed in 2026.
