Britain remains the leader in the number of tourists arriving in Cyprus
According to the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat), the number of tourists arriving in the country increased in the first quarter of 2024. Britain continues to be the leader in the number of guests.
According to the published data, March 2024 saw a significant increase in both tourist arrivals and returns of residents from trips abroad. The number of arriving tourists increased by 9.8%, reaching 202,256 people. In March 2023, this figure was 184,263 people.
From January to March 2024, the total number of tourists was 415,251 people. This is 5.4% more than for the same period last year (393,893 travelers).
In March 2024, Cyprus welcomed 64,414 tourists from Britain, which is 31.8% of the total number of foreign guests.
Next come Poland with 10.4% (21,054), Germany with 9.8% (19,732), Greece with 9.1% (18,361), and Israel with 8.2% (16,620).
76% of tourists in March 2024 visited Cyprus for leisure, 13.1% came to visit friends and relatives, and 10.7% arrived on the island for business purposes.
It is also noted that according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), global demand for flights in February 2024 increased by 21.5% compared to the same month in 2023.
