Authorities and the police of the TRNC have denied the information about the arrest of suspects in the murder of Aychi Alav in Cyprus

Authorities and the police of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) have denied the information about the arrest of two suspects in the murder of the owner of a currency exchange point in Nicosia, Aychi Alav, in the Republic of Cyprus. The previously detained accomplices of the murderers will remain in custody for another 8 days.

• There are news on some websites that the suspects in the murder of Aychi Alav have been detained in the territory of Southern Cyprus. We have not yet received any official information that the suspects have been arrested, - said in a statement by the TRNC police.

This information was confirmed by the Co-Chairman of the Presidential Technical Committee on Crime and Criminal Matters, Salih Jan Doratli.

• Unfortunately, the news of the arrest that appeared today in some media does not reflect the truth. Our necessary contacts and initiatives with the authorities of Greek Cypriots and the UN police continue most effectively, - said the representative of the TRNC president.

Salih Doratli also noted that in case of the arrest of suspects in the high-profile murder, this information will be conveyed to the public through the administration of the president.

Recall, another brutal murder that shocked the entire country occurred in Nicosia last Friday. The victim of the robbers was 45-year-old businesswoman Aychi Alav. The body of the businesswoman was found in the bookmaker's office "HIT BIT" in Nicosia, next to her exchange point "Alav Döviz".

Today it became known that the killers stole $37,000, 10,000 euros, 8,000 pounds, and 150,000 Turkish liras from the exchange point.

After information that the killers may be hiding in the Republic of Cyprus, at the direction of the leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Ersin Tatar, the coordinator of technical committees on crime initiated the necessary procedures for the arrest and extradition of the suspects.

Earlier, the police detained two suspects who may be involved in the crime. Cameroonian Frank Leonel Wuobeng Donho and Pakistani Saddam Hussein were arrested for aiding and abetting murder.

The police believe that they helped the killers escape to the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. Yesterday, the two accused appeared in court, which ordered their detention for another 8 days for further investigation.
