Two suspects arrested in Louvre robbery in France
Paris police have arrested two people in connection with the theft of royal jewels from the Louvre, which took place last Sunday; the arrests were made on Saturday evening, according to French media.
According to *Le Parisien*, the detainees — both around 30 years old — are residents of the Saint-Denis area. They are suspected of being part of a group of four individuals who forcibly entered the museum and stole jewelry belonging to French monarchs.
Investigators believe the perpetrators used a truck equipped with a lifting platform. Wearing yellow vests and motorcycle helmets, they broke a window leading to the “Apollo Gallery” and removed items from the collection.
The suspects have been placed in custody as part of an investigation into “theft by an organized group” and “forming a criminal organization with the intent to commit a crime.” The investigation is being conducted by the Anti-Crime Unit (BRB) and the Central Office for the Fight Against the Illegal Trade in Cultural Goods (OCBC).
The news outlet *Proto Thema* also reported on the progress of the investigation. Further details will be established during the ongoing inquiry.
