A major cleanup event took place in Paphos over the weekend, during which participants collected nearly two tons of trash, including debris recovered from the sea.

The cleanup was organized by the Port Authority, with support from groups such as AKTI, the American University of Beirut Mediterraneo, Tepak, and the football academies of Pafos FC, Atlantas, and Aiantas.

According to a spokesperson from the AKTI research organization, a total of 180 children took part in cleaning the beach area from Limanaki to Ta Bania, collecting approximately 130 kg of waste.

Additionally, around 1,800 kg of trash was pulled from the sea in just an hour and a half by 22 divers and six fishermen.

Among the items brought to shore were tires and pipes that had been dumped in the sea. The tires alone accounted for around 25 kg of the total haul. Divers also retrieved 67 car wheels from the water.
