Intercity Bus Drivers in Cyprus Announce 24-Hour Strike
Intercity bus drivers in Cyprus have announced a 24-hour strike scheduled for Thursday, April 3.
The decision was confirmed today by the OMEPEGE-SEK and SEGDAMELIN-PEO unions. In a joint statement, they explained that the strike was prompted by failed negotiations over the renewal of the Collective Labor Agreement. Talks reached a deadlock due to the stance taken by the Department of Labor Relations at the Ministry of Labor.
Union representatives stated that workers had no choice but to take action in accordance with the Labor Relations Code.
Apologizing to passengers for any inconvenience, the unions emphasized that the strike is a direct result of the authorities’ inaction, not the workers' decision.
