Over 50% of Monthly Rainfall Recorded in Just a Few Hours in Cyprus

Cyprus has experienced heavy rainfall recently. According to official data from the meteorological service, more than 50% of the island's monthly rainfall fell within just a few hours last Saturday.

The highest levels of precipitation were recorded in the southern part of the island, particularly in the south and southwest regions of Limassol, as well as in the city and district of Paphos.

Specifically, Paphos Airport reported receiving 66% of the monthly rainfall, while the new port of Limassol recorded 53%. Inland areas experienced up to 50% of the expected monthly total.

The Prodromos station measured a total of 22.2 millimeters of rain, which constitutes 27% of the monthly norm for that mountainous area.

It is important to note that authorities in the Republic of Cyprus are currently assessing the damage caused by the severe weather that affected the country over the past weekend. Farmers in Limassol and Paphos were particularly hard-hit by the storm.
