Cypriot Police Detain 45 Illegal Migrants in a Single Day
The Republic of Cyprus police arrested 45 migrants in a coordinated operation conducted on Sunday, targeting individuals residing in the country illegally.
In an official statement, the police confirmed that the operation took place on January 19 and was carried out nationwide with the support of the Immigration and Foreigners' Affairs Department.
Deportation procedures have been initiated for all 45 detainees, with 16 individuals already repatriated to their countries of origin on the same day.
It’s worth noting that nearly 10,000 illegal migrants were deported from Cyprus over the course of last year.
