Cypriot students, including five Turkish Cypriots, who were stranded in Switzerland, are set to return to the island tomorrow. They have already reached Milan.

According to reports, late last night rescuers managed to clear the road network, allowing students and teachers to travel by bus to Milan, their original destination. From Italy, they will fly to Greece and then onward to Cyprus. The plane is expected to land at Larnaca Airport around 10:30 AM.

It is known that all students are in good health and spirits.

Earlier, it was reported that a group of 65 fourth-year students, along with six teachers from an English school, were in Switzerland on an educational trip. Due to severe weather conditions, they were unable to return home on time.

They became trapped during a trip near the southern border of the country with Italy when heavy rains triggered a landslide and prolonged power outage. Throughout this time, the students and teachers were staying at a hotel.

It should be noted that heavy rains hit the southwestern part of Switzerland over the weekend, causing flooding and landslides. Four people died, and two others are missing. Over 600 people were evacuated to temporary shelters.
