Students Stranded in Switzerland Return to Cyprus
The students who were stranded in Switzerland have returned to the island. All 65 students and six teachers safely landed in Larnaca.
According to local media, all 71 individuals, including five Turkish Cypriots, first reached Italy safely, then flew to Greece, and finally arrived at Larnaca Airport.
No health issues were reported among the students and teachers. They are all feeling well.
Previously, it was reported that a group of 65 fourth-year students along with six teachers from an English school were in Switzerland on an educational trip. Due to bad weather over the weekend, they were unable to return home on time.
They were trapped near the southern border of Switzerland with Italy when heavy rains caused a landslide and a prolonged power outage in the area. During this time, the students and teachers stayed in a hotel.
It should be noted that heavy rains hit the southwestern part of Switzerland last weekend, causing flooding and landslides.
