University of Cyprus Medical School Building to be Handed Over on February 28
The University of Cyprus will receive the Medical School building on February 28, announced Vice-Rector Ioannis Giapintzakis during a presentation to the House Education Committee regarding the university's 2026 budget.
The contractor will complete construction work by February 28, and the official opening of the Medical School is scheduled for March 24, the Vice-Rector noted.
The building has been a subject of public discussion in recent years, according to a university statement.
Giapintzakis also updated MPs on the progress of other projects: the Biological Sciences building is nearing completion, and Teaching Building 3 (CHOD3) is already finished, awaiting a formal opening in May or June.
Speaking before the Education Committee, the university urged the Ministry of Finance to approve the start of construction for four departments: the Faculty of Philosophy, the School of Social Sciences, the School of Humanities, and the Graduate School. Currently, these departments are housed in rented premises.
