Limassol Resident Arrested for Attempted Copper Cable Theft Worth €12,000
A man in Limassol has been arrested after attempting to steal copper cables, causing damages estimated at around €12,000.
According to the police press office, the incident occurred on the evening of January 12 in the village of Kouka, near Limassol. Around 8:00 PM, a contractor working at a photovoltaic park reported to the Platron police station that unknown individuals had unlawfully entered the property and attempted to steal 120 meters of copper cables.
After receiving the report, police officers promptly responded to the scene. During their investigation, at approximately 9:30 PM, they stopped a vehicle in Trimiklini that matched the description provided by the contractor. Inside the vehicle, officers found two pairs of hand scissors, a work uniform, a battery-powered grinder, a pair of black gloves, and other tools.
The 50-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of cable theft. The investigation is still ongoing at the Platron police station.
