Paphos Resident Arrested for Real Estate Fraud
A 62-year-old man in Paphos has been arrested on suspicion of committing financial fraud related to real estate transactions.
According to police reports, two men, aged 33 and 63, filed complaints on July 18 and August 1, respectively, regarding two separate incidents of fraud.
The victims allege that the suspect convinced them to hand over sums of €3,000 and €1,500 by making false promises during the supposed purchase of a house.
One of the victims stated that he gave the suspect the required amount in November 2022. However, the house purchase has not yet been completed, and the suspect has failed to return the money.
The second victim reported that he transferred money to the suspect in June of last year. However, in July, the suspect informed him that the property was no longer for sale. Despite this, the suspect allegedly has not returned the funds provided for the transaction.
The police arrested the 62-year-old man on Sunday around 3:30 PM, and he is currently being held in custody.
