Woman Arrested in Nicosia for Hiding Large Sum of Cash
A 33-year-old woman from Nicosia was arrested after police discovered over €126,000 in cash of unknown origin hidden in her home.
According to a police statement, the woman is under investigation for crimes related to the illegal possession of property. She is also being investigated for potential money laundering.
During a search conducted by the Narcotics and Crime Prevention Department (YKAN), officers uncovered a safe hidden in the bathroom of the suspect’s house. Inside the safe, they found and seized €126,360. The woman was unable to provide a clear explanation for the large amount of cash.
After her arrest, she was taken to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, where she was questioned in writing before being released with a summons to appear in court at a later date.
