December is the time to prepare for Christmas and New Year's. Traditionally, a series of Christmas festivals takes place in Cyprus throughout the month. We’ve gathered the most promising ones.

Handmade in Cyprus (December 14-15)

The Handmade in Cyprus Christmas market is held for the fourth time, but at a new location. 50 local artisans will showcase their creations over two days. From 11 AM to 8 PM on both days, the cafeteria at the European University of Cyprus will be filled with tables and stalls, but this event will be more than just a market as it includes art and crafts lessons for children, workshops for adults, festive food and drinks, and live music performances. Additionally, a Christmas parade, starting from Kyriakos Matsi, will pass by the European University around 12:30 on Sunday.

Christmas Market in Pyrgos (December 14)

A festive day filled with entertainment will be held at Avli tu Meze in Pyrgos, featuring around 70 stalls with handmade products, fresh produce, gifts, cakes, food, and drinks. The event will run from 10 AM to 4 PM, and there will be many surprises throughout the day: children's entertainment, Christmas music by DJ Andi, and live carol performances by the Achorda community choir. The market will support Malcolm's cat shelter, offering lottery tickets, with proceeds going to the shelter’s needs.

Christmas Festival at CyHerbia Botanical Park (December 14-15)

The Christmas festival at the botanical park: explore the Christmas maze, play games with elves, meet the Grinch, Santa, and Mrs. Claus. Entry tickets include all games and entertainment, maze challenges, a magic show, story sessions, and a meet-and-greet with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Grinch, as well as a cup of warming winter tea.

Christmas Market at Prozak (December 20-22)

15 artists will present ceramics, jewelry, prints, accessories, clothing, bags, books, greeting cards, and more at the annual Prozak Christmas Market on December 20, 21, and 22. The event will be held at the Common Room from 4 PM to 9 PM each day, with soup served at the café-bar.

Christmas Market in Kolla (December 21-22)

This might be the largest December market in Limassol, and the event goes beyond just a market. Interactive entertainment for children and adults, installations, top DJs, tasty street food, bars with signature cocktails and festive drinks, and, of course, a specially decorated venue – the Kolla Christmas Market is an event not to be missed. Over 100 artists will participate, and even more will perform street shows. The market opens at 2 PM on both days, but on the first day, it will close at midnight, and on the second day, it will end at 10 PM.

Xmas Fest in the Old City of Limassol (December 21-22 and 28-29)

For two weekends, Agora Anexartisias in Limassol will be filled with Christmas cheer as the Limassol Old City Xmas Fest takes place with an exciting program. The market will feature local traders selling decorative arts and crafts, balloon entertainment, play zones, DJ performances, puppet shows, craft workshops, and even stand-up comedy performances.

Christmas Market in Platres (December 21 - January 6)

In the cool mountain village of Platres, the Public Council of the Municipality, in collaboration with the Agro Cyprus team, is preparing a Christmas village and a multi-week market this year. Live music, traditional Christmas drinks, and Santa Claus giving out free gifts will be some of the highlights (December 21-22 and 28-29). The Christmas market will last even longer – from December 21 to January 6, spreading festive cheer in the Troodos mountains.
