Traditional Cypriot Village of Kalopanagiotis

The village of Kalopanagiotis is located in the Marathasa Valley, within the Troodos mountain range.

Kalopanagiotis is one of the most beautiful mountain resorts on the island, known for its thermal springs, traditional architecture, and panoramic views of the Marathasa Valley. It is an ideal destination for agritourism, offering a serene natural landscape.

The Monastery of Agios Ioannis Lampadistis is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It features three Byzantine churches with well-preserved frescoes dating from the 9th to the 15th centuries. Other notable attractions include the Venetian bridge and the Kykko watermill, an impressive building with characteristic pre-industrial architecture. The 16th-century bridge, built from traditional stone, served as the only road connecting the village to the monastery until recently. The Cyprus Department of Antiquities has declared the watermill a "cultural heritage monument."

The charm of Kalopanagiotis can be found throughout the village, in its chapels, museums, and the old quarter with cobblestone streets.

The climate is exceptional year-round, and visitors can enjoy the scenery and nature by walking along an extensive network of well-maintained hiking trails, considered among the best on the island.
