Fire safety regulations in Northern Cyprus

From May 1st to October 31st, Northern Cyprus has special fire safety regulations in place.
During this period, it is prohibited to start any fires, for any purpose, including barbecues or waste disposal.
Violators of this prohibition may be fined an amount equivalent to ten minimum wages or sentenced to imprisonment for up to 5 years. Those responsible for a fire covering an area of more than 1 hectare may be fined an amount equivalent to 100 minimum wages or sentenced to imprisonment for up to 15 years.
Any signs of fire or smoke should be immediately reported to emergency services at the following numbers:
- 199 - Fire Department
- 155 - Police
- 177 - Forest Fire Department
- 188 - Emergency Power Service
