To what to pay attention during air conditioner installation?

Updated: 3 months ago

An air conditioner is a necessity in everyday life on the island. It is indispensable not only in summer but also in winter for obvious reasons. Often, island residents complain that their newly installed equipment seems to be working incorrectly: in summer, the air conditioner does not cool the room enough. We spoke with Russian-speaking air conditioner installation experts (working not only in Cyprus) and found out that there may be several main reasons (from incorrectly calculated power of the unit in relation to the area to leaks in the cooling element), but most likely, it all comes down to the lack of vacuuming the system during installation.

Vacuuming is the process of removing air from the air conditioning system to create a vacuum before filling the system with refrigerant (e.g., Freon). This is an important step because moisture and air can negatively affect the operation of the air conditioner. Special equipment called a vacuum pump is used during the system's vacuuming process to create low pressure in the system and remove all air and moisture particles.

Filling the air conditioner with Freon occurs after vacuuming. Freon (or another refrigerant) is used to cool and circulate through the system, absorbing heat from the air in the room and expelling it outside. This process allows achieving the desired temperature indoors.

It is essential to consult an air conditioner installation specialist for vacuuming and filling with Freon, as it requires specialized equipment and knowledge to ensure the correct operation of the system and avoid problems in the future if you notice that the air conditioner is not working correctly during operation. If you are planning to install it, we recommend overseeing the correctness of the work and drawing the installer's attention to the need for vacuuming.

How often is it necessary to clean the air conditioner?

In countries with a hot climate, it is recommended to clean the air conditioner approximately every 3-6 months, especially if it is used frequently. In such conditions, dust, sand, and other pollutants accumulate faster, clogging the filters and internal parts of the air conditioner. Cleaning helps maintain the efficiency of the air conditioner's operation.
