Ercan Airport served almost 17 thousand aircraft
Over the past seven months, Ercan Airport has served 16,747 aircraft and 2,607,920 passengers. With the commissioning of the new airport, the number of passengers and aircraft has increased by almost a third.
According to a statement from the T&T Airport Management service company, from August 2022 to February 2023, the old Ercan airport accommodated 13,524 aircraft. During the same period, the old airport was used by 1,977,925 passengers. Thus, at the new airport, the number of passengers increased by 32%, and the number of aircraft by 24%.
According to published data, the total number of passengers, which was 299,561 in August 2022, increased by 29% in August 2023 to 385,223. In September 2022, the old Ercan airport served 310,910 passengers, while in September 2023, the new air harbor served 402 thousand travelers. Similar growth was observed in other months.
For example, in January 2023, the old Ercan airport served 251,466 passengers, and in January 2024, this number increased by 33% to 334,510 passengers.
In February 2023, 226,108 people used the old Ercan, while in February 2024, this number increased by 57% to 354,960 people.
Similar growth is observed in the number of incoming and outgoing aircraft.
In August 2022, 1,978 aircraft landed at the old Ercan, while in August 2023, 23% more aircraft - 2,425 - landed at the new air harbor.
In September, the growth was 19%, in October 16%, in November 24%, and in December 32%.
In January 2023, Ercan Airport accommodated 1,848 aircraft, and in January 2024, this number increased by 25% to 2,301. In February 2023, 1,623 aircraft landed on the airport runway, while in February 2024, this number increased by 24% to 2,220.
Recall that the New Ercan Airport was commissioned on July 20, 2023. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived for the opening of the air harbor.
