Over 400 drivers fined during police checks in TRNC
The TRNC police have announced the results of large-scale traffic checks conducted across the country. As a result of the raids, 407 drivers were penalized for various traffic violations, and 57 vehicles were impounded.
According to the police, speeding was once again the most common violation. During the checks, 133 drivers were found to have exceeded the established speed limit.
In addition, 12 people were driving under the influence of alcohol. Another six drivers were behind the wheel without driver's licenses and insurance policies.
Other violations included:
- 15 cases of driving without insurance,
- 9 drivers using mobile phones while driving,
- 13 people driving without wearing seat belts,
- 15 vehicles operated without a valid inspection (MOT),
- 48 vehicles on the road without road tax licenses.
The police also recorded instances of dangerous driving, running red lights, and disobeying traffic signs. One motorcyclist was stopped for riding without a protective helmet.
Following the checks, administrative proceedings were initiated against the violators. The police emphasized that such raids will continue in order to improve road safety and prevent accidents.
