Two Accidents Involving Drunk Drivers in Famagusta and on the Famagusta–Iskele Highway
Over the past 24 hours, two road traffic accidents involving drivers under the influence of alcohol were recorded in the Famagusta region.
Accident on the Famagusta–Iskele Highway
Yesterday, a 22-year-old driver under the influence of alcohol (103 mg) was traveling along the main road towards Iskele. Near Gurme Market, he lost control, veered off the road, and the right side of his car struck a billboard support pole.
The driver was taken to Famagusta State Hospital, where he was discharged after receiving first aid. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him for driving under the influence and causing an accident. The investigation is ongoing.
Accident in Central Famagusta
This morning, on Şehit İbrahim Kazım Street, a 26-year-old driver under the influence of alcohol (206 mg) lost control near the Tözün roundabout. The vehicle struck a curb, then crashed into a hotel wall and a lighting pole on the hotel grounds.
The victim was hospitalized at Famagusta State Hospital and remains under medical observation. The investigation is ongoing.
