Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has issued his first reaction to the US and Israeli strikes on Iran, expressing "deep concern" and warning of the risk of a large-scale escalation in the region.

Speaking at an iftar for the ruling AKP party at Istanbul's old Atatürk Airport, Erdogan stated that Ankara is monitoring the developments following the US-Israeli strikes with alarm.

"We are deeply saddened and concerned by the attacks of the US and Israel against our neighbor Iran," he emphasized.

The Turkish leader noted that Ankara has long relied on diplomatic means to resolve disputes.

According to him, the strikes not only violate Iran's sovereignty but also threaten peace in the region.

At the same time, Erdogan stated that Turkey considers Iranian missile and drone strikes on Gulf countries unacceptable.

"Whatever the reason, we consider Iran's attacks on our brotherly Gulf countries inadmissible," he said.

The Turkish President warned that in the absence of common sense and diplomatic efforts, the region could be drawn into a massive conflict.

He called on the international community, especially Islamic countries, to take urgent action to prevent further bloodshed and stressed that Turkey will continue diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire.

Erdogan also assured that there are currently no issues with the security of Turkey's borders and airspace, and all relevant structures are operating in an enhanced mode.
