Erhürman launches creation of 15 new units under the first 100 days plan
President Tufan Erhürman of Northern Cyprus announced the start of the implementation of his first 100 days plan: in the near future, 15 new administrative units will be created within the administration, and the first personnel appointments have already been made.
The appointments include Mehmet Dana as Secretary of State, Mustafa Ergüven as Chief of Staff, Tünay Mertekçi responsible for press and public relations, and Major Soner Meşe as presidential aide. The presidential residence is open to visitors and will be used for social and cultural events.
The new units will cover issues such as property, free movement, exports and tourism, EU citizens' rights, sports relations, coordination of technical committees, public diplomacy, negotiation preparation, oversight of public administration, constitutional and security matters, as well as education and social cohesion. The plan also involves work on the Green Line Regulation and the Direct Trade Regulation, promotion of halloumi in external markets, and cooperation with international bodies, including EU and UN representatives.
Erhürman stated his intention to implement a merit-based personnel policy and to intensify diplomatic contacts; meetings with Turkish officials and the UN Special Representative for Cyprus are expected this week.
