Hydroplane Service Between TRNC and Turkey Could Launch Next Season
TRNC Minister of Transport Erhan Arıklı has announced that passenger hydroplane services between Turkey and Northern Cyprus might commence next season. The service is expected to operate from the newly opened port in Anamur.
The minister mentioned that this possibility was discussed during the inauguration ceremony of the ferry terminal and hydroplane pier in Anamur, which was attended by a delegation from the TRNC.
“What concerns me is that this pier could also accommodate hydroplanes. We have long struggled to address the technical and legislative challenges associated with hydroplane operations. Now, we are committed to resolving these issues promptly and preparing for hydroplane services next season,” stated the minister.
The ferry terminal and hydroplane pier in Anamur were inaugurated last week. The port will facilitate rapid maritime transport between Anamur and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Travel time between Kyrenia and Anamur will be reduced to just 1.5 hours by sea bus.
