TRNC Ministry of Finance Denies Tax Amnesty Rumors and Urges Citizens to Pay on Time
The Ministry of Finance of the TRNC has officially stated that the introduction of any tax amnesty law regarding state tax debts is currently neither being considered nor planned.
The ministry responded to rumors circulating in the public sphere about an alleged upcoming amnesty, emphasizing that such statements are inaccurate and mislead citizens. According to the ministry, some taxpayers, anticipating potential relief, are delaying the fulfillment of their obligations, which could lead to penalties and interest charges for late payments.
The Ministry of Finance stressed that no legislative initiatives for writing off or reviewing tax debt in the form of an amnesty are being developed, and citizens are strongly advised to adhere to the established payment deadlines.
“Currently, there are no plans to pass a tax amnesty law. All citizens must fulfill their tax obligations in a timely manner,” the official statement from the ministry reads.
The ministry also noted that the dissemination of unconfirmed information could lead to financial losses for the population and an increased debt burden in the future.
