Famagusta Municipality Acquires 58 New Vehicles for £2 Million
Over the past 19 months, the Municipality of Famagusta has expanded its fleet with 58 new vehicles at a cost of £2 million.
The new vehicles have been acquired for each department to enhance the quality of public services. In 2023 alone, investments in the fleet totaled £1.2 million.
The initial purchases focused on cleaning operations. The municipality received 8 compressed-air garbage trucks, 3 pickups, 3 flatbed trucks, 2 dump trucks, 2 bulldozers, and 1 crane truck. Additionally, the new fleet includes 6 vacuum trucks and 1 electric vacuum cleaner, with the tender for the latter recently completed.
Various types of equipment have also been acquired for the public works department, the hydraulic engineering complex, the medical unit, the sewerage department, maintenance and repair, and the historical site restoration team. Moreover, 7 residential vehicles were purchased for use across different departments in the main building.
There is also an ongoing decision regarding the procurement of an additional 23 vehicles, with an estimated tender value of £669,500.
