Mass Killing of 14 Wild Donkeys Shocks Karpas
A horrifying act of animal cruelty has shaken the Karpas Peninsula: unknown perpetrators have brutally shot and killed at least 14 wild donkeys, including a pregnant jenny that was gunned down while giving birth.
According to a statement from Taskent Nature Park’s social media page, the massacre took place over the weekend. The attackers shot the donkeys at close range before fleeing the scene. Park staff have shared disturbing images capturing the aftermath of the brutal attack.
The incident has sparked outrage among animal rights groups. The Golden Paws Association and officials from the nature park have condemned the killings and urged authorities to take immediate action.
Local residents say that wild donkeys have been targeted in the past, but this is the first time such a large-scale slaughter has occurred. These donkeys are considered an essential part of Northern Cyprus’ natural heritage and have long been a symbol of the Karpas region.
Police have launched an investigation, but animal lovers and locals remain deeply concerned, fearing that more donkeys may have been killed.
