Large Seizure of Stimulants and Pesticides at the Checkpoint Between TRNC and Cyprus
A large quantity of stimulants and pesticides was seized at the Bostancı-Astromeritis checkpoint, where a Greek Cypriot attempted to smuggle stimulant tablets from the TRNC into the Republic of Cyprus.
According to the Cyprus police press office, the incident took place on February 4. Officers from the Customs Department stopped the vehicle for inspection, which was driven by a Greek Cypriot.
Upon inspection, a variety of pharmaceutical products containing stimulants were found and confiscated. The seizure included 274 stimulant tablets, 21 packs of gel, and 3 packages of pesticides totaling 300 grams. The transport of such goods is prohibited under the Green Line Regulations.
Following the investigation, the Greek Cypriot driver was fined €1,300.
