1400 applications for migration amnesty in TRNC
As of today, 1400 applications have been submitted for the migration amnesty that started in Northern Cyprus on August 5.
The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, discussed the initial results of the project on Güneş Web TV.
The Minister reminded that this amnesty is different from other similar projects because those applying for it must be involved in the workforce. Any unregistered worker can participate in it.
As a result of the amnesty, "important statistical data about the workforce in the country will be collected."
- Employers and the state are responsible for every person working in this country. We have a serious approach to labor issues, and we will improve it. We know what we are doing, - said the Minister.
Recall that the migration amnesty officially started in the TRNC on August 5. It was introduced "to ensure the registration of unregistered workers and strengthen the country's economy."
The amnesty will last for 45 days and will affect about 4,000 people, most of whom are university students.
Additionally, earlier this week, 8 migrants who illegally entered the country from Cyprus to participate in the amnesty were detained in Northern Cyprus.
