During the commemoration, a wreath was laid at the monument, followed by a moment of silence and the raising of flags as the national anthem played.
The ceremony at the Bosphorus Martyrs' Cemetery started at 10:00 AM with the laying of wreaths. After the flags were raised, a moment of silence was observed, and the national anthem was performed. The event concluded with a visit to the graves of the martyrs.
Following the Battle of Sakarya in August 1921, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was honored with the title of "Gazi" and the rank of "Marshal," and September 19 was declared Veterans Day.
