School holidays in Northern Cyprus will begin on February 1 — around 58,000 students
The first term of the 2025–2026 academic year in Northern Cyprus will end on January 30; students will receive their report cards on Friday, after which the mid-year holidays will begin on February 1, the TRNC Ministry of Education reported. Around 58,000 students will return to classes on February 16.
According to the Ministry, approximately 28,000 children study in 132 schools under the Department of Primary Education, around 25,000 in 49 schools under the Department of General Secondary Education, and about 4,000 in 13 vocational schools under the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. Around 6,500 teachers work in public and private schools in the TRNC.
The 2025–2026 academic year will conclude on June 15 with the issuance of final report cards and certification documents.
In addition, exam and admission dates have been announced: the first stage of the KGS entrance exam (KGS-1) will be held on Saturday, the second stage (KGS-2) on June 6. The exam for admission to Bülent Ecevit High School (BEAL) and 20 Temmuz Science High School will take place on June 20, 2026. Applications for vocational high school programs are scheduled for June 17–23, with placement results on June 24. Entrance exams at Lefkoşa Anadolu Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi will be held June 24–26.
