Behind-the-scenes reports have emerged regarding a possible new increase in electricity tariffs by the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK).

According to available information, an increase of 20–35% starting from early April is being considered. A final decision has not yet been officially announced, but reports suggest the institution is discussing tariff adjustments due to rising production costs and expenses.

As a reminder, KIB-TEK previously increased the fixed portion of electricity bills by 18.39% starting February 1, 2026. At that time, the increase was attributed to the rise in the minimum wage, and it was emphasized that it applied to fixed payments regardless of consumption volume.

If the new adjustment is approved, it will mark the second increase in electricity prices within a short period.
