The Parliament of Northern Cyprus has passed amendments to the law on road traffic and vehicle registration. The bill was approved by a majority vote—26 deputies supported the initiative, while 9 were against.

Opposition CTP deputy Devrim Barçın stated that following the law's adoption, an increase in vehicle registration fees and seyrüsefer (annual road tax) is expected. He demanded an official explanation from the government regarding the percentage increase in payments for drivers.

Barçın also criticized the recent sharp rise in fuel prices, claiming that the authorities have not provided sufficient explanations for the growth to the public.

Furthermore, the deputy called on the government to comment on reports regarding possible restrictions on cash withdrawals at exchange offices.

According to Barçın, state decisions, especially those affecting citizens' expenses, must be accompanied by transparent explanations and open information for the public.
