Road works have begun on the Dağ Yolu section in Northern Cyprus
The Highways Department announced that on April 15, 2026, road works began in Northern Cyprus on the highway known as Dağ Yolu. The work is being carried out on the section from the Acapulco junction to the Beşparmak Bufavento restaurant.
According to the department, the repairs affect the main Lefkoşa–Famagusta road in the Değirmenlik area and the Girne–Esentepe section. Specifically, work is being conducted between kilometers 8+900 and 19+300 of the main highway in this direction.
The Department's statement noted that during the construction period on this section, the risk to traffic safety increases. Drivers are strongly urged to exercise caution, drive slower than usual, and strictly follow the requirements of road signs and pointers.
The Highways Department also reported that restrictions will remain in effect until further notice. Residents and motorists are advised to take into account possible changes in traffic management and plan trips in advance considering likely restrictions.
