In Northern Cyprus, the Week of National Struggle and Martyrs begins
The TRNC will honor the memory of those who became martyrs in the struggle for the existence and freedom of Turkish Cypriots. Ceremonies will take place in Nicosia and other cities of Northern Cyprus from December 21-25 as part of the Week of National Struggle and Martyrs.
According to the announcement of the Central Committee for the Celebration of National Days, memorial events will be held on Thursday by the command of the security forces.
In connection with the Week of National Struggle and Martyrs, on Thursday, December 21, two memorial ceremonies will take place in Nicosia. The first will start at 9:30 with the laying of wreaths at the monument to Nicosia martyrs. After a minute of silence, a ceremonial gunshot, the singing of the National Anthem, and the raising of flags, President Ersin Tatar and the commander of the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces will sign the Book of Memory.
The martyrs' memory program will also be held at the Ataturk Cultural Center in Nicosia. The ceremony will begin at 09:50 with a minute of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.
Memorial events will also take place in Famagusta, Kyrenia, Güzelyurt, Lefke, and in Iskele.
In addition to the prayers that religious leaders will read at the cemeteries of the martyrs, on Thursday, December 21, at 11:49, the Mevlid-i Sheriff will be read in all central mosques of the TRNC.
Moreover, on Friday, in the Tekke Garden, the memory of the martyrs of Türkeli (Aivasylia) will be honored. The ceremony will start at 9:30 with the laying of wreaths at the cemetery of the martyrs.
