In Northern Cyprus on April 25, 367 drivers were fined, 36 vehicles removed from traffic
The General Directorate of Police reported that on April 25, 2026, general road inspections were carried out in Northern Cyprus: 2,018 drivers and vehicles were checked. Following the raids, 367 drivers received fines, and 36 vehicles were temporarily removed from road traffic.
The most frequent violation was speeding — 147 drivers. Also recorded were 37 cases of using a mobile phone while driving, 26 cases of driving without registration documents, and 15 cases of not wearing a seat belt. As a result of the checks, 8 drivers were prosecuted for driving under the influence; 2 for driving without a license and without insurance; and 6 for lack of insurance alone.
The inspections revealed 11 vehicles without a valid technical inspection, 1 case of dangerous driving, 1 traffic light violation, and 4 violations of road signs and markings. Another 109 drivers were prosecuted for other violations.
The raids were conducted by police traffic units across the entire territory. Residents are advised to observe the speed limit, use seat belts, carry registration documents and an insurance policy, and not use a mobile phone while driving to avoid fines and vehicle impoundment.
