Livestock Farmers' Strike Continues in Northern Cyprus
The strike by livestock farmers in Northern Cyprus persists. The protest, which commenced yesterday in front of the Prime Minister's residence, resumed today.
Members of the Association of Animal Producers and Breeders, who left their vehicles in front of the residence yesterday evening, gathered again today at 10:30.
Mustafa Naimoğulları, the head of the livestock farmers' union, announced that today the protesters plan to escalate their actions.
Specifically, participants in the protest ignited a fire with the remnants of bales dumped in front of the building yesterday. The fire was extinguished by the arriving fire brigade.
It's important to note that producers of livestock products are staging an indefinite strike in protest against the government's livestock policies. The protest began yesterday in front of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources building in Nicosia and then continued in front of the Prime Minister's residence.
Among their demands is the establishment of a price for raw milk, reduction of production costs, and reversal of the decision on meat imports.
