National Struggle and Martyrs Week to be Held in Northern Cyprus
Northern Cyprus will host memorial ceremonies for National Struggle and Martyrs Week, with events taking place across the country from December 21 to 25.
According to the National Days Celebration Committee, the commemorations will begin on Saturday, December 21, at 08:00 with a speech by an officer from the Security Forces Command, which will be broadcast on radio and television. This speech will be repeated at 18:00.
On the night of Saturday, December 21, a special Mevlid-i Sherif prayer will be recited in all central mosques in Northern Cyprus.
Nicosia
On Saturday, December 21, two memorial ceremonies will be held in Nicosia. The first ceremony will begin at 09:30 with a wreath-laying at the Monument to the Martyrs of Nicosia. After a minute of silence and a ceremonial gun salute, the national anthem will be played, and the flags will be raised. The President of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, and the Commander of the Turkish Cypriot Peacekeeping Forces will sign a special memorial book.
The second ceremony will take place at the Atatürk Cultural Center in Nicosia, starting at 09:50. It will begin with a minute of silence and the national anthem, followed by a performance by the Turkish Secondary School of Nicosia.
Famagusta
In Famagusta, the ceremony will begin at 09:00 at the Martyrs' Monument in the walled city. Wreaths will be laid at the Martyrs' Cemetery, followed by a minute of silence, the national anthem, and the raising of flags.
Kyrenia
The memorial ceremony at the Kyrenia Martyrs' Cemetery will take place at 10:00. It will end with a minute of silence and the raising of flags while the national anthem is played.
Güzelyurt
The ceremony in Güzelyurt will start at 10:00 with wreath-laying at the Atatürk Monument, located across from the Governor’s Office.
Lefke
The Lefke Kemal Özalper Martyrs' Ceremony will begin at 10:00, with wreath-laying at the Martyrs' Cemetery.
Iskele
In Iskele, the ceremony will start at 10:30 with wreath-laying at the Martyrs' Monument in Larnaca.
Memorial events will also take place in other regions of Northern Cyprus.
