Number of Insured Foreign Workers Increasing in Northern Cyprus
The number of insured foreign workers is rapidly growing in Northern Cyprus, according to the quarterly bulletin from the Central Bank of TRNC.
As of January 2024, the bulletin reports that citizens of TRNC constitute 54.1% of the total insured workforce.
In contrast, the proportion of insured citizens from the Republic of Turkey decreased to 26.9% in 2024. Insured individuals from other nationalities accounted for 19% in January 2024.
The number of insured individuals from third countries increased from 16,504 at the beginning of 2020 to 18,846 in 2022. From November 2022 to January 2024, this number rose sharply by 46.05%, reaching 27,525.
During the same period, the number of insured employees who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey increased by 9.49%, from 35,509 to 38,880.
Overall, the total number of insured citizens of TRNC and employees increased by 7.57%, rising from 72,817 to 78,331.
