ON NORTHERN CYPRUS, TODAY MARKS TEACHERS' DAY
In the TRNC, on November 24, Teachers' Day is celebrated. This professional holiday is established in memory of the day in 1928 when the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk assumed the title of "Director of National Schools."
On this day, the country honors all teachers as representatives of one of the most valuable professions worldwide.
On the occasion of this professional holiday, President of the TRNC Ersin Tatar extended his congratulations to educators.
The Head of Northern Cyprus emphasized that teachers have made a significant contribution to transforming Turkish Cypriots "from a society that was wanted to be destroyed into a people who own the state."
"We live in the age of information. Great technological developments are taking place, but international competition and disagreements still continue at a very serious level. Therefore, we need to defend our own values, rights, and interests," stated the president in his address.
Teachers' Day has been observed annually on November 24 in the TRNC and in Turkey since 1981, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Atatürk's birth.
