A pilot training course for construction equipment operators has started in Northern Cyprus
The Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Craftsmen and Traders (KTEZO) conducted a pilot program for training construction equipment operators in Northern Cyprus from September 22 to 24. The program involved 24 participants, with a total of 67 exams held due to applications for multiple categories.
After the training course, candidates took theoretical and practical exams. The theoretical exam was held at the Tanner Akcan Apprenticeship and Adult Training Center, while the practical part took place at the KTEZO practical exam site with the support of the Turkish Municipality of Nicosia, Damdelen Limited, and Serjem Limited.
The organizers stated that from now on, a driver’s license alone will not be sufficient; the aim of the course is to train operators capable of identifying risks on the worksite in advance and taking safety measures. Graduates who successfully complete the program will receive a construction equipment operator qualification certificate. The new approach is expected to increase employment in the construction and agricultural sectors and establish new professional standards in Northern Cyprus.
