Fines for traffic violations in Northern Cyprus are planned to be eased

TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı said that the authorities are preparing changes to the traffic fine system. According to him, the current sanctions cause serious dissatisfaction among drivers and in some cases are considered excessively harsh.
The minister noted that this is not about abolishing penalties, but about revising the amounts of fines and the approaches to their application so that the system becomes fairer and more proportionate to the violations. Preparations for the changes are already underway, and details are promised to be presented after work on the new regulation is completed.
