Stray dog attacks on livestock raised again as a major issue in Northern Cyprus
The head of the TRNC Animal Producers and Breeders Union, Adil Onalt, stated that stray dog attacks are becoming an increasingly serious problem for farmers in various regions of the country.
The catalyst for the new appeal was an incident in the Mehmetçik area, where livestock belonging to farmer Nurcan Erbilen was killed as a result of a stray dog attack.
According to Onalt, the affected party had repeatedly approached the authorities requesting a solution to the problem, but allegedly no effective measures have been taken.
The union head emphasized that similar incidents occur in many districts of Northern Cyprus, affecting owners of both small and large livestock, and causing serious financial losses for farmers.
He urged municipalities and relevant departments to bring the situation under control, especially in rural areas where the population of homeless dogs continues to grow.
