8 fires recorded in Northern Cyprus in a week — 608,000 lira in damages
The Fire Service published a report for the period from March 30 to April 5. In Northern Cyprus, 8 fires occurred during this interval; the total material damage, according to the report, amounted to 608,000 Turkish Liras.
The report lists the probable causes of the fires: short circuits in electrical networks, fuel leaks, heating malfunctions, and arsons committed by individuals. Such data allows for an assessment of the main risks for residential and commercial properties.
In addition to the fires, the service recorded 21 cases of special calls and operations. The list of activities includes taking measures to prevent fires, rescuing people, performing special tasks, conducting fire prevention training, rescuing animals (including cats stuck under warehouses and on roofs, as well as goats that fell into a well), and transporting bodies to medical facilities for forensic examination.
Residents are advised to regularly check electrical equipment and heating appliances, store flammable materials carefully, and follow fire safety rules. If a fire or a dangerous situation is detected, it is necessary to immediately inform the emergency services and follow the firefighters' instructions.
